Children are more vulnerable during the autumn and winter months because the cold air and enclosed environments dry their nasal membranes, causing microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria to take hold. What’s more, they spend more time indoors when it’s cold, where microorganisms can spread easily from one person to another.
Most children have an average of between six and ten colds a year. Children who go to nursery school or school can have up to 12 colds a year.
