Origins is Uriach’s project to control its ingredients at the very source: the plant, the water, the field.
Uriach Origins
Project Uriach Origins is a long‑term strategic initiative to strengthen control over the origin and cultivation of its natural ingredients.
Project Uriach Origins explores innovative and sustainable farming models, with the goal of improving ingredient efficacy, ensuring a more responsible use of natural resources, protecting biodiversity, and embedding positive impact at the core of Uriach’s business model.
Types of cultivation in Project Origins
- 1

Vertical farming
Precise control of growing conditions (water, light, temperature) in a protected and stable environment. The controlled environment can improve the production of active compounds in the plant, without changing its nature, avoiding pesticides and fertilizers, ensuring minimum water consumption and clean energy.
- 2

Open-field cultivation
Cultivation in a natural environment, prioritizing respect for balanced ecosystems and regenerative practices.
Case Study: Arnica Montana
Arnica is becoming endangered due to the reduction of its traditional wild habitat and climate change.

- Each year, the products in our brand Fisiocrem use more than 700 kg of arnica to produce 2.5 million units of finished product yearly.

- Uriach has developed through Project Origins a controlled cultivation system for arnica in a vertical agriculture facility, which significantly enhances arnica’s properties.

- The origin and quality of the plants is stable and can be traced, thus improving quality and safety.

- Through this system, we can help and protect wild arnica populations, which can thrive without suffering over exploitation.
