Origins is Uriach's initiative to monitor and ensure the quality of its ingredients right from their source: the plants, the water and the soil in which they are grown.
Uriach Origins
Project Uriach Origins is a long-term strategic initiative aimed at strengthening control over the sourcing and cultivation of the natural ingredients we use.
Through Project Uriach Origins, we explore and develop innovative and sustainable cultivation models aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of our ingredients, using natural resources more responsibly, protecting biodiversity, and embedding positive environmental and social impact at the heart of our business model.
Farming Models in Project Origins
- 1

Vertical Farming
Vertical farming enables precise control over growing conditions, such as water, light and temperature, within a protected and stable environment. These controlled conditions can help optimise the production of plants’ active ingredients without altering their natural composition. At the same time, they reduce the need for pesticides and fertilisers, ensure minimal water consumption and make use of clean energy sources.

Open-Field Cultivation
Cultivation in a natural environment, prioritising respect for balanced ecosystems and the implementation of regenerative agricultural practices.
Case Study: Arnica Montana
Arnica montana is an increasingly threatened species due to the loss of its natural habitat and the effects of climate change.

- Every year, Fisiocrem products use more than 700 kg of arnica to produce approximately 2.5 million finished products.

- Through Project Origins, Uriach has developed a controlled system for cultivating Arnica montana in a vertical farming facility, which significantly helps optimise the plant’s properties.

- The origin and quality of the plants remain consistent and fully traceable, helping to improve the quality and safety of the final products.

- Through this system, we help protect wild arnica populations, allowing them to grow naturally without the risk of overexploitation.
